Volunteers

CES has more than 1000 volunteers who give our ministry a personal touch, and help keep costs down.  About half of the volunteers help deliver CES Meals on Wheels. The other half are involved with sorting food, interviewing clients, office work and many possibilities in between.

Volunteers perform duties in the following ways:

  • Interviewing persons on a one-on-one basis with the goal of assessing the physical, emotional health, personal growth and any spiritual hunger the individual may have.  If there is no apparent "spiritual hunger," the client is respected and affirmed in their current efforts.
  • Driving a van or acting as an assistant to pick-up and deliver food, but also other items that may be donated.
  • Sorting & stocking the food that arrives with the goal of depositing the food into the proper storage areas and the pantry before it is given out to clients.
  • Assembling of the monthly newsletter for bulk mailing by our mailing team as they gather in the morning once a month.
  • Providing office and clerical support for special projects.
  • Delivering CES Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors.
  • Assisting our custodial help with extra projects, such as deep cleaning, carpet cleaning, summer or winter yard upkeep, etc.
  • Lending a helping hand with special maintenance projectssuch as minor repair work, general carpentry, painting, plumbing, replacing carpet and even electrical duties.

The greatest challenge that CES faces is the ever-increasing number of clients coming with crisis needs, requiring ever increasing finances.  There are volunteers from every walk of life that partner with us in regards to ever pressing necessity of funds to maintain the high quality of direct service that we seek to continue.

CES often sees that there are underlying issues besides the obvious crisis needs.  Therefore, staff and/or volunteers meet twice daily for about 30 minutes to take these requests to prayer.  There are several others that partner with CES in this prayer ministry as well.
