Where the funds go
| $300 | prevents an eviction |
| $250 | helps get a family out of a shelter and into an apartment |
| $100 | stops a utility shut-off |
| $50 | provides transportation to work until the first pay check |
| $25 | provides co-pays for a number of urgently needed prescriptions |
Food is, of course, the main ongoing aspect of CES. Food donations and/or funds to buy food are always welcome. Because of our food purchase connections, any dollar donated to CES to purchase food goes 10 - 15 times further than your dollar spent at the store. For example, at times, we are able to purchase hamburger for $.04 per pound. Many other foods we can obtain for $.16 per pound.
Top Food Shelf Needs
Each day there are many people who express gratitude for the food they receive. Due to space limitations and the time it takes the interviewers to obtain the shopping list, CES limits the number of specialty items in the pantry. Therefore, there is only a limited amount of food on the list for available groceries. Although there are many items given, the following items are often in short supply
Food Items:
- Canned applesauce
- Corned beef hash
- Canned pineapple
- *Salmon
- Tuna
- Similar protein foods
- Deodorant
- Hand Cream
- Hand Soap
- Shampoo
- *Tooth Brushes
- Tooth Paste
- Dish Soap
- *Laundry Soap
- *Toilet Paper
You’ve probably experienced “Stewardship Sundays” in your congregation, where people put pledge cards in offering plates and thereby promise to donate their time, talents and treasures in the coming year. This year, CES is asking you to do that for us as well. We hope you’ll consider filling out and returning the Commitment Card(Pledge form 2012d) you can download below. Thank you!
