What is Fish-A-Thon?
Fishing for Life’s Fish-A-Thon, is an annual event designed to be a financial vehicle for ministries in Minneapolis and St Paul mobilizing over 10,000 area youth to fish in any water they choose, throughout the summer.
Who can participate?
Anyone can participate! Register online or send for a packet by selecting CES, one of the featured ministries, as the team you will be raising pledges for. CES will also have packets available. Participate as a children’s or youth group, a club, small group or donate online individually.
How do you participate?
Each participant will receive a pledge packet once they have registered. Kids can receive donations based on a flat donation, the number of fish they catch or the number of hours they fish. Those who raise over a certain amount in pledges will be eligible for special prizes (see packet).
Where do I fish?
You may fish anywhere. See packet or online at www.fishingforlife.org for more information & special event sites.
Who will benefit from the pledges?
Community Emergency Service (CES) & other urban ministries. At CES the pledges will benefit youth & children in the following situations:
During homelessness or eviction, the lack of private space, a change in schooling or loss of personal possessions, leaves scars in many kids.
Going without food, many youth experience gnawing pain, lack of concentration in school and a tired feeling that inhibited them all day.
On a cold winter day, imagine what it would be like to have only the burners from a cook stove to keep you warm.
Or, since the water has been shut off and they have not had a shower for days, kids make fun of them for smelling.
Have fun fishing & help children in need!
